Program Overview

An effective STEP 2 internship should help fill out your resume and prepare you for what’s next. Our goal is to expose you to as many teams and people as we can, so you can pick up new skills and find out what types of roles you’re most interested in for the future.

After a successful STEP 2 internship, you can qualify for one of our full-time programs and positions for after graduation: either the Technology Engineering Program (TEP) or the Technology Leadership Program (TLP). Enjoy frequent networking and social events to meet other interns, full-time employees and managers.

Program runs June 3-August 9, 40 hours per week, with working hours roughly from 9-5. This is a paid internship, with a relaxed dress code (jeans are fine) and work envirinment (you can play ping-pong, and becoming friends with your coworkers is encouraged)

Your Summer Experience

There are three main components of STEP 2. Each of them is meant to expand your skill set, add to your resume, and introduce you to some great people.

Summer Role

You’ll be placed into a team just like a full-time employee - this isn’t a “hey go make us coffee” situation. Around 80 percent of your time goes here.

Side Project

Work with other interns on…whatever you want! this is a super flexible way to spend 20 percent of your time. Choose one of our ideas or create your own.

Intern Project

Toward the end of the summer, we get all the interns together at one of our offices for a few days of special events, skill development and socializing.

Testimonials

Sherriff

This past summer I was a Product Management intern at Citi. It was an experience, my favorite part of Citi is the company culture, everyone is positive and welcoming. I made many friends, with not only the other interns but also full-time employees. I looked forward to going into work every morning. I also got to be an active contributor to my team and saw the impact that my work made in completing my team's project.

Leany

My summer at Citi as an intern was amazing! The company really tries to give you what you want and gives you the freedom of mobility to explore different roles within the company. Alongside of this, the culture and people of Citi really makes your intern experience worthwhile. I have made some lifelong friends here this summer.

Jesse

As an intern I wrote the base code for an Amazon Alexa app for Citi. It was new, fast-paced, and exciting, but the most valuable part of the internship was people. My team was always asking "how can we take this further?". As a group we pushed ourselves to see how much we could learn and how far we could go.
